Dear master’s ambassadors,
I hope his email finds you well and that you are just as excited as we are about the Championships approaching. In fact, this week, we were celebrating the 100 days to go until the Elite Championships, which means it will soon also be the case for the master’s Championships! We are extremely excited to welcoming you all in Gwangju this August and we are working very hard toward making this experience unforgettable for all participants!
In order to send you all an overview of what has been happening in the last month, may I each of you to send me a brief activity update for the past month? It’s always great to hear what you have been up to with your communities!
Here is an overview of some important pieces of information to keep in mind:
- Open Water Swimming Events
OWS competitions will start at 9:40 AM (same for the 3 days of competitions) – athletes will need to get there by 7:30 in the morning.
Hence there are two options for the OWS participants:
- Stay the night before in Yeosu
- We could organise shuttle buses that would depart from the Athletes’ Village at 5:00 AM and would arrive in Yeosu at 7:30 AM on the morning of each competition
Which solution would participants prefer? Please ask within you communities and we will set up shuttle buses should open water swimmers prefer this option.
- How to get to Yeosu
To follow up on OWS events, we have been receiving quite a few enquiries about how to get to Yeosu, so we have created a detailed transportation guide for this purpose (see attached). Please feel free to share this with your communities as it is essential information for all master’s participants to the OWS events.
- Portuguese brochure
A big thank you to Carlos da Silva, our Brazilian ambassador, for creating a complete information brochure about Gwangju 2019 for all Portuguese-speaking participants (see attached).
- Share your master’s stories!
As you may have seen in our past newsletter, we will now be sharing the inspiring story of a master’s swimmer every month. We are counting on you to collect inspiring stories from your communities and to share them with us!
That is all for this month – please remember to update us on your activities as ambassadors as we will be sharing these with you all in two weeks.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you need any help or assistance.
Kind regards,
Johanna
